Old SchoolHouse Art Gallery
This is an Invitation to Participate in the last open members show of the season for the Old SchoolHouse Art Gallery. It is only two weeks away!

PORTRAITS: ME AND MY SHADOW opens on Friday, Sept 9 and works will be collected at the gallery on Monday, Sept 5 between 5 and 6 pm and Tuesday, Sept 6 between 11 am and 12 noon.

This is our usual portrait show with a little (dark) twist.

Some thoughts to get you going:
shad-ow:
1. a dark image or shape cast on a surface by the interception of light rays by an opaque body 2. an area of relative darkness 3. the dark portions of a picture 4. a hint, image, or faint semblance 5. a remnant or vestige 6. a reflection 7. a threatening influence; blight 8. a spectre 9. an inseparable companion 10. a person who trails another in secret 11. the dark and unknown aspects of personality.

A shadow can be a hidden aspect of yourself; the unlived life resulting from choices made; that which has not been allowed expression; a presence perceived but not seen; something that follows you around; a familiar; a double. Although a shadow is dark, it is created by light. To quote Thomas Moore, "the person we choose to be....automatically creates a dark double -- the person we choose not to be".

Play with it....have some fun. Let's all get together to make the last show of this season a great one.
