Programs run from July 4th until August 25th
Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. To 4:30 p.m.
with a supervised 1 hour lunch break from
12 pm - 1 pm for youth in both morning & afternoon classes. Bring your own snacks and water to all classes. Please see attached .pdf for updated program brochure.

There will be a wait list for overbooked classes. More will
be added if possible. Classes must have a minimum
attendance to run or they will be canceled.

ACTION CAMP: with Ryan Harvey, Mike Hansen, Sheri Hansen &

When: Mon – Thur July 4 – Aug 25: 3 - 4:30 pm
One and a half hours at the end of each day of action packed games
like hackeysack, swimming, archery, martial arts, etc.
Where: Cortes Island School field
Raindays: Manson’s Hall (except Wednesdays)
Cost: $8 per 1.5 hr class, $25 for a 4 day week
Bring: water, a snack, sunscreen. On Mondays, bring something to
swim in.
Mon - Ryan Harvey: archery, swimming, capture the flag, action
Tues - Mike Hansen: hackeysack, rugby, capture the flag, soccer,
Wed - Sheri Hansen: Capoeira, martial arts, soccer, acrobatics, action

FAIRY SCHOOL: with Claudia Raaen
When: Tuesdays: 10 - 12 pm
Tues July 5 – Making fairy houses
July 12 – Fairy tea party & flower arranging
July 19 - Mandalas
July 26 – Fairies: needle felting
Aug 16 – Fairy forts Hollyhock beach (meet there)
Aug 23 – Fairy celebration
Making flower fairy houses and tea parties in the garden, magical
forts on the beach, crafting and playing merrily with mother nature.
Dress up if you like!
Where: Claudia's Raaen’s garden at 757 Salmonberry Lane except
for Aug 16, where all meet up at Hollyhock beach.
Cost: $10 per 2 hour class.

POTTERY: with Mary Clare Preston
When: Wed July 6, 13, 20, 27: 1 - 4 pm
Aug 3, 10, 17, 24: 1 - 4 pm
Youth will create their own pottery pieces and learn techniques like
firing pottery, glazing and wheel work.
Where: Pottery studio under Manson's Hall
Cost: $100 for 8 classes

KAYAKING: with Misty Isles
When: Thurs July 7: Beginners: 10 am - 1 pm (Introduction)
Thurs Aug 4: Intermediate: 9 - 12 pm (Skills oriented paddle)
Where: Meet up at Manson’s Lagoon parking lot. Cost: $35
Bring: Misty Isles provides all gear incl. 4 doubles for younger
paddlers but if kids have own life jacket, please bring it, along with a
hat, water bottle & snack.

BLACKSMITHING: with John Jordan

When: Thur Jul 7, 21, 28 & Thur Aug 4, 11, 18, 25: 1 - 3 pm
(Note: for ages 11 - 15 only)
One of the most amazing things about a Renaissance Faire is the
chance to learn ancient skills like blacksmithing. John Jordan will be
sharing these skills with classes of 6 youth maximum throughout the

DOWN, DAWG! with Jennifer Mcleish-Lewis
When: Wed: Jul 20, 27 & Aug 3, 10, 17, 24:
10 - 11 am: age 11 - 15
11 - 12 pm: age 7 - 10
A hip hop yoga fusion dance class.
Where: Manson’s Hall
Cost: $8 per 1 hr class.

CIRCUS SCHOOL: with Lovena Harvey, Sheri Ranger, Tessa
Katchesky, Joelique McGregor

When: Mon Aug 1, 8, 15, 22: 10 – 12 pm
The circus is coming to town. Weekly training in the flow arts like poi,
staff, hula hoop, spiral dance, juggling, acrobatics, acrobalance, contact
juggling, swords, double swords, staff, double staff and cane.
Youth learn how to master technique, learn dynamic tricks, build
colourful techniques & improve coordination. Stellar for all levels and
experience. Attend all four classes and build your skills!

MAKING SWEET MUSIC: with Jenny Hartwick, Sheri Ranger,
Russ Haddow

When: Mon Aug 1, 8, 15, 22: 10 am – 11 am

Aug 22 - Creating Magic Music World
Musical play, self expression through music & performances by talented
local &renowned guest instructors who will share their experience
with music, from the essential instruments to the exotic. This program
introduces a variety of cultural music.

VOCALIZE IT! with Hannah Boutilier, Sara Yoshizawa, Joelique

Beat boxing, MC and freestyling, finding your inner voice, vocal training
& exercises, coaching on how to project your presence, overcome
stage fright, spoken word & poetry recitation refinement

Sheri Ranger & Mike Hansen

When: Mon Aug 1, 8, 15, 22: 1 - 3 pm
Bring out your spiritual warrior, channel your energies like a jedi &
participate in epic foam sword battles. Includes adventure walks,
Hero quests, energy awareness, martial arts & weapons battle
play with practice equipment. May the Force be with you!

ON AIR with Josee: with Josee Gagnon
When: Tues Aug 2, 9, 16, 23: 10 - 12 pm
Maximum: 5 students
Learn how to tap into your radio persona, use studio equipment,
& go live on air on 89.5.
Where: Cortes Community Radio Station
Cost: $10 per 2hr class

YOU on the TUBE: with Jana Lynne White
In this two part class, participants learn how to write and present an
introduction to their favourite music video or their favourite cause.
Part One (Aug 16) illustrates how to research and write your
Part Two (Aug 23) demonstrates, with courage and style, how to
show up, be real, and successfully introduce something you want the
world to see

THE WAYS OF THE WIZARD: with Shaeah Fialkow
When: Aug 2, 9 : 10 - 12 pm
Get in touch with your inner wizard. Learn, explore and experience
the essential keys to real life magic. Through spontaneous cocreation,
activities and games we will explore what’s possible when
we break out of the box and into the realm of possibility. The only limit
is our imagination!

IMPROV THEATRE: with Soasis Sukuweh, Hannah Boutilier,
Chloe Dubois

When: Wed Aug 3, 10, 17, 24: 1 - 3 pm
Improv theatre, on stage basics, mask play, clowning, prop
building, costumes & mask making, live action storytelling,
story play & theatre games help youth build confidence & tap into
their stage personas.
Where: Manson’s Hall
Cost: $10 per 2 hr. class

When: Wed Aug 3, 10, 17, 24 : 1 - 3 pm
Drawing & painting with focus on authentic self expression. Themes
such as light vs. line will be explored & discussed.
Where: Manson’s Hall outside
Rainday: Upstairs Manson’s Hall.

PILATES & PLAY: with Namchi Bazaar
When: Tues Aug 2: 3 - 4:30 pm
Ages 11 -15
Youth are introduced to Pilates in a gentle and playful way. These are
skills that can be taken away and applied every day.

TUTU MAKING: with Namchi Bazaar
When: Wed Aug 24: 10 - 12 pm
Tutu making workshop that is a wonderful complement to fairy school.
Participants will take home a tutu they crafted themselves.

SKATEBOARDING: with Cory Joyce
When: Thur Aug 4, 11, 18, 25 : 1 - 3 pm
Come out and work on mastering your skateboarding skills among
the awesome brand new aerosol art pieces.
Where: Cortes Island Skatepark
Cost: $10 per class
Bring: your skateboard, helmet & water

RAJASTHANI DANCE: with Namchi Bazaar
When: Thur Aug 4 : 3 - 4:30 pm
An Indian folk dance that uses scarves (bring your own if you want),
rhythmic movements and spinning.

SOCCER CAMP: with Carrie Serwetnyk of Free Kick Magazine
When: Mon Aug 8, 9, 10, 11: 9:30 - 12 pm
Carrie Serwetnyk has a USSF A Coaching License and has contributed
over 20 years developing players of all ages throughout North
America. What does this mean? One phenomenal soccer camp by a
highly talented coach, that’s what.

PHOTOGRAPHY: with Fabien Belcourt

When: Wed Aug 10, 17, 24: 10 - 12 pm
A walking study of subject matter for the photography inclined youth,
withwork on techniques, telling a story through your photos, learn
about film cameras as well as digital with outstanding
photographer, poet & imagery storyteller.
Where: Meet at Manson's Hall
Cost: $10 per 2 hr class
Bring: water, snack, camera


At least 24 hours and preferably more notice is required if you
cancel from participation in a program and wish to receive a
refund. Call the Hall 250-935-0015 and leave a message if your
child is unable to participate. This is very important to help the
programs run smoothly and to ensure that any children on the
wait-lists have an opportunity to participate.

Please advise the Coordinator, at the time of drop-off, if
someone other than yourself will be picking up your child. We are
responsible for your child up until you arrive so, please be sure
to have arrangements in place to ensure that your child is
picked up promptly following their program. In the event of a late
pick-up there will be a charge of $5 for each 10 minute increment.
If an emergency arises & you will be late to the pick-up you can
call the Coordinators at the following cell numbers:

Please do not abuse this number for information purposes or to
check on your kids. This number is for emergency use only.

We aim to provide affordable programs that enable all youth
opportunities to try new things! For info about financial assistance
