A GATHERING to share information or concerns or whatever regarding the Two Day Music Festival which will take place behind Trude’s Café on July 23rd and 24th.

This meeting will continue the evolving process of respectful listening that our island began generating last year. Come because you have an interest or concern regarding the festival or come because you are interested in innovations in communication. The process that is evolving is a combination of generative dialogue, non-violent communication, open space, and appreciative inquiry with a lick of Cortes-style storytelling.

“From the moment people begin talking about what they need rather than what’s wrong with one another, the possibility of finding ways to meet everybody’s needs is greatly increased”
Marshall Rosenberg

So this is a respectful listening for your needs and your potential solutions rather than a respectful listening for what’s wrong with somebody else…

More communication should equal more community support and that should equal less problems during and after the event. These are moderate issues like litter, alcohol, noise, and septic needs for potentially a couple hundred people over the weekend, all manageable issues with enough foresight and understanding of what is planned, a good practice for more contentious issues.
