.......from Hague Lake to Lima Peru.
Former Cortes School student Alec Page, 17,has again earned a spot on the Canadian National Junior Swim Team; this time to compete in Lima, Peru in August at the World Junior Swimming Championships.
Alec grew up on Cortes Island from age 3 to age 11, where he and his brother Finn,14, who is also a National Level swimmer, developed their passion for swimming in Hague Lake. Many of their happiest years were spent almost daily in the lake for hours, some years from late April until October, with their Cortes
friends. The boys still like to consider Cortes Island their home, where their Grandparents live, and their
parents Betty-Ann Hansen and Brian Page still own a house near the lake. On Alec's National Team biography, he has listed Cortes Island as his "home town". The family has moved to Victoria now, where the boys attend a sport oriented high school which allows them to continue their passion of swimming under National Level coaches. Every day they enjoy their 5am "wake up" 3 hour training sessions before school, and 2 hours after school. They still look forward to getting back to Hague Lake whenever their schedules allow.
