Even as we begin to wind down our extraordinarily creative lives on Cortes, life and art go on. Jodi was pleased to sell her most recent mask carving, "Tears of Shalam" directly from the Campbell River Art Gallery Members Show which ends April 9. "Shalam" will be going to a collector in Texas. I don't know what it is about Texas, but a lot of our artwork has found homes in that state!
Dianne Bersea's landscapes and natural images exhibit at the TLC Abkhazi Gardens, A Land Conservancy project at 1964 Fairfield Road, Victoria, continues until May 31. When in Victoria stop in for a look at the artwork, lovely garden and a delicious light lunch in the Garden Tea Room.
Dianne is also pleased to announce that a detail of her three panel painting "Rock Bluff Symphony", (image above) an interpretation of the north side of Cortes Bay entrance, has been selected as the cover image for a new book. The book, a compilation of art work by Vancouver Island artists and illustrators is published by Oolichan Books. The book launch by the Island Illustrators Society happens this Thursday evening, April 7th, 6 - 9 pm at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
