Ralph Nursall
In tribute to Mae Sherwood on her 80th birthday, February 8, the following poem:

Some speak of Marie Antoinette,
And some of Cleopater,
Of Great Catherine and Boudicca,
And other names that matter;
But of all the world’s great heroines
There’s none that shares the beauty,
With which we sure can all agree,
Of Mae, the Whaletown cutie!

The Gorge Hall rings with concerts fine,
And smells of food appealing.
The Craft Fair brings the artists out,
Our local skills revealing!
Behind the scenes, with phone in hand
To keep the action rolling,
We find a driving force at work.
It’s Mae! She’s out there polling.

Mae is a very social gal,
A friend to all and sundry,
Epitome of public tact,
And great to know when hungry.
We all thrive in her helpers' file,
Captives of her winning ways;
We even cheer her bowling style.
We love you Mae, for all your days!
(! and many more !)
