Thanks to those who have shown interest in the series of workshops on Musicianship. I would like a couple of more people. I know you are out there.
We will have the first class on Sunday, Jan. 23rd from 2-4:30 or so at the Whaletown Institute (Oliver and Ruth's).
There will be 5 sessions before the end of Feb. We will learn more about how to express your musical ideas to other players by learning a rudimentary bit of theory. We will also explore arranging your tune for a group, performance techniques, songwriting, improvisation, and jamming etiquette. Reading music is not necessary. Bring acoustic instruments only please, and a notebook, pencil, and small recording device if you wish.
This course is for those who play already, but are mystified by chord charts, transposing songs into different keys, and communicating their musical thoughts. Useful stuff, and all interspersed with lots of playing together. This is the course I wish I had taken 35 years ago!
Cost is $100 for the series and I will do one make up session for those who can't make it to all of them. Printed material will help explain the information for later study.
