At Manson’s Hall, we test our water once every two weeks. If there is an overgrowth of bacteria, VIHA will put us on a “Boil Water Advisory”. Over the past few years, our water has failed to pass the testing on several occasions. Every effort has been made to rectify this situation. Over the last few years we have added an iron removing filter, a UV filter and there is a big blue filter as well. In August we replaced the UV system after the last one broke down. We have moved into a regular schedule of chlorination to ensure the system stays clean.
Despite our efforts we are on a “Boil Water Advisory” once again. Until further notice we will be testing our water every week. After consultation with Last Drop Water, we are adding one way valves to the system to stop possible back flow contamination. We are also installing a solenoid switch that will turn off the water when the power goes off. This will stop water bypassing our filtration system. We are also going to fully flush all the hot water tanks, chlorinate again, and hopefully this will get our water testing clean again.
Donations towards our water system are welcomed and much appreciated. There is a donation can in the Cortes Café, and Mary is in the office on Wed and Fri 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Tax receipts are available. The Schmidt family has offered to match funds up to $500.00. The new UV system cost $1700.00, and the next upgrades are still pending. Please help out if you can.
