It is heartening to see the many expressions of support for our community doctor, Kirstie Overhill.

However, the update provided by the CCHA Board, August 31, though lengthy, gives the community little by way of the explanation they deserve and require. Specifically, the Cortes community wants to know why the board is unable to give Dr. Overhill a service contract. The question is, Why? That answer was not provided in this most recent update, even though the writer may think otherwise.

For those who did not read Dr. John Kristensen's letter of support, please take a moment to do so and reflect on his warning, "Finding a permanent full time doc for Cortes will be a long shot and fraught with high risk of failure."

It is my hope, now that the flavour of public opinion in support of Kirstie is apparent, that the board will revisit their decision. If not, perhaps a public meeting will be required.

Business or Health Care

I agree Norm.

The CCHA summary sounds like a bussinesss plan rather than a Health Care Plan. The inclusion of a Dr. at the end seems like an add-on rather than the primary focus.

Re-open the negotiations, mediate, and make us all happy, please.
