Yesterday we got an amazing phone call from the head of admissions at St Michaels. Knowing of our incredibly modest circumstances and their desire to have Geoffrey as a student, they awarded him a bursary equivalent to half his tuition for the upcoming school year. We are so thankful. It is wonderful news. From feeling like I was literally going to throw up from all the worry and stress and travel back and forth looking for housing, a guardian angle appears at just the right moment. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the kind benefactor at St Michaels and overwhelming so to Scott Mercs who believed in Geoffrey enough to advanced funds for him to go to Victoria in June for all the interviews and admissions testing, to one of my amazing clients who immediately offered to fund all the upfront registration fees and to those who have so generously offered encouragement and financial and emotional support when this seemed such an enormous and frightening thing to do. For all of you who have made donations and support, thank you so much. One of my biggest fears was (and still is but only a little now after going back and forth so much) is that we would get to Victoria, leaving our friends and community and our good housing here and find out that we could not physically handle the air and housing quality and then be homeless again. Each trip down this fear diminishes. A good thing.
In terms of tuition,, we havwe a shortfall of $2610 for the catch up July-September fees due late next week and then our share of monthly fees beyond then. All the upfront fees have been so generously covered.
If any of you have housing contacts in Victoria we would be grateful for any assistance you can offer with school starting in 2 weeks. We have learned by trial and error that Geoffrey's height requires high ceilings, my allergies either wood/electric or hot water heat, non carpetted flooring and sadly no cats . We are willing to offer grounds keeping duties and care taking if that is of help. Thank you so much Cortes!
