General News · 25th August 2010
Unsafe drinking water isn't just a problem in rural China, Haiti, or Mexico. It's a problem right here, at the hub of this community.
Manson's Hall's water filtration system has failed, and funding for the replacement is needed now!
Help donate and fundraise by September 15, 2010. We are offering a matching grant of up to $500 for donations received by this date.
* Put what you can in the "can" at the Cortes Cafe. Drop in some pocket change, $1, $10, $100 (checks to SCCA). Every drop helps!
* Engage your kids in philanthropy and clean water education. Have them make a collection can for another local business, bake cookies, or create something to sell. Brainstorm with them for this end-of-summer worthwhile and rewarding project.
*Off island? Want a cup of safe water the next time you are at the Cortes Cafe, or at the drinking fountain at the Friday market? You can help too. Send your check today to:
PO Box 222

(be sure to note that your donation is for the new Water Filtration System so matching funds can be applied).
Businesses are encouraged to sponsor the new system, and/or offer matching funds.
