Red ALders' Daniella Roze of rural Courtenay will be leading a Wilderness skills day camp for children 7-12 years from AUgust 10- 13th. Activities will include fire making (with no matches or lighters), shelter building, tracking, plant/medicine identification as well as a diverse array of skill-based games.
Daniella brings with her 12 years of teaching experience in a variety of countries to children and adults. She has taught at Firemaker, a primitive skills gathering camp in Sooke for the past several years, and is a wonderful wise woman who walks her talk and lives her lines.
THe camp will be from 10a.m to 3p.m. each day and is $100 per student.

Nancy BIssonnette and Kathryn Dice of Campbell RIver will be teaching three classes for different ages on Cortes August 14th and 15th. The teachers will be bringing a variety of readily available plants and tree material including western red cedar, cattail, sea grass, iris and many other wonderful natural materials to inspire our continued weaving projects.
August 14th 1030-12:30 Children 6-11 years can learn to make a wood base pencil holder basket, using natural and recycled matierials. This course is $25.
August 14th 1-4:30 12- 17 year olds will learn to make baskets using sea materials, including driftwood, shells and seaweed. THis class is $35.
August 15th from 9:30-4 adults will learn to make sun visor basket hats. THe cost for this class is $60.
