Jesula Rae NIC (Comox Valley campus) — Early Childhood Education

Marcelle Wheeler UVic — 4th year Bachelor of Science (Linguistics)

The selection committee was impressed with both the diversity of applicants’ educational goals and the breadth of their volunteer/community involvement here on Cortes Island and abroad. Thank you to all of this year’s applicants.

It’s an honour to recognize and reward the achievements of Cortes Island students in Emily’s name. Emily’s life was an amazing adventure in education, and she would be excited to see this project supporting others’ educational dreams.

Our heartfelt thanks for the generous contributions that have made these ongoing awards in Emily’s memory possible. We would also like to acknowledge the support of the Cortes Island School PAC and thank them for participating in the selection process.

Donations to the Dr. Emily Ellingsen Memorial Scholarship Fund can be made to an account in that name at any branch of the Coastal Community Credit Union. Scholarships will be awarded each summer for the following academic year with funds disbursed each November. Thank you for your contributions.
