Notices, Workshops & Rides: Buddhist treasure from Free Store
A while back I found this hanging at the Free store. I brought it home and now have it on my wall. Recently, a friend helped me get a translation of the poem.
Bhudda teaching Buddhism on Mount Ling, holds a flower in his hand. This sentence reminds us of the most important and most famous story of Zen Buddhism: Buddha says nothing during a big gathering of disciples - he only holds a flower and smiles.
the fresh wind, the moon with flowers, the truth.
The rest speaks of when and where the calligraphy was made, and gives the name of the author - Korean Zen master, Peng Xu Jing Bao.
I am wondering if anyone knows the origin of this hanging and why it came to be at the freestore.
