MEN ARE DEFINITELY INVITED to the Cortes Museum sponsored tour of CREATIVE SPACES/GARDENS & WORKSHOPS on Saturday, June 19, 2010 : 9:30 am to 5 pm., rain or shine. Workshops include a variety of woodworking, metal welding, blacksmithing, boat building, house building, carpentry and taxidermy. Ask questions, compare tools or techniques; workshops on Cortes, like homes a& gardens, are creative & individual.
Many gardens were created for subsistence produce like the early homesteads: one was created from the forest in an inspiring true settler experience, another has a woodland pond. Take the 20 min. enchanting hike through woods & over rock bluffs to Channel Rock, the heritage home & garden of BC poet Gilean Douglas, and where the blacksmith & woodworking shops will be open.
Tickets are $12, including map & descriptions of gardens & workshops -- they're available soon at all Cortes stores, Hollyhock, Squirrel Cove Craft Shop, Cortes Museum & Friday Markets at Manson's. All proceeds support Cortes Museum's public education & archives programs.
Watch for upcoming information on Cortes Museum sponsored tour of ART STUDIOS on Sat. & Sun., Aug. 7 & 8, 2010.
