Trude and I were unable to attend the recent meeting at the Gorge Hall to vote for or against the land tax proposal to finance the Manson's and Gorge Halls. We sent our written proxy votes against the tax, but they were not accepted.
Our most important aim for Cortes Island (and indeed for all humans) is that people should be happy. We do not believe that money, per se, makes for happiness. Happiness comes from local self-sufficiency, family, inter family, village cooperation and sharing. This can be seen among many people on Cortes and other small communities. Trude and I would like to suggest local, organic, self-sufficiency and voluntary donations to support our BASIC needs, which includes the upkeep of our community halls.
