Performing Arts - School Plays
Shakespeare has inspired and entertained people since he wrote his first play. At Linnaea we introduce the students as young as kindergarten to adapted works of his plays. By the late primary grades they are gradually being exposed to the richness of true Shakespearean text. Our Shakespeare study unit is always one of our most popular. We have found that A Midsummer Night’s Dream to be his most ‘kid-friendly’ story and we usually couple it with a study of Ancient Greece.

The script combines true Shakespearean English with humorous, rhyming couplets in modern verse. While a scaled down version of the original play, with license being taken to make it truly appealing and accessible to elementary age students, we believe the script captures the true essence of this wonderful tale. As with all of our plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is filled with original music and dance to fully engage the students and captivate the audience.
