The CISS meets Tuesday, 9 March, in the Pioneer Room, Manson's Hall at 1:30 p.m. Michael McIvor, veteran CBC correspondent (London, Washington, Moscow, etc.) and host (Man Alive, The World at Six), will remind us of our illusions of 20 years ago about the flowering of democracies and market economies following the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union. How far have we progressed?
Michael has been recognized for his work with the UN in Kosovo and elsewhere. He is deeply concerned with electoral procedures, as well as the use of journalism, in emerging democracies. He is active in The Media&Democracy Group, which is devoted to journalism training for democratic development. He is also hosting a series of evening discussions on related topics at the Campbell River Museum this month.
