Whaletown Community Club

The Whaletown Community Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday February 22nd at 7:30 p.m. in the Gorge Hall. At this meeting
• There will be annual reports from the current board members
• There will be a discussion of Core Funding as it affects the WCC
• Finally, there will be elections for 2010-2011 board members

In addition, this is the time to renew your annual membership in the Whaletown Community Club or to become a new member so that you have voting rights. Your membership fees not only help fund some of our activities, but you also get a reduced rate for renting the hall, and you are part of an organization that sponsors many events in the Whaletown area. Membership is $15.00 for a Family, $10.00 for Single and Single Parent Families. Please do not forget that these membership fees are crucial to the running of the WCC.

Snacks and tea/coffee will be served.

I may not be able to make meeting but would like to mail a cheque for an Associated Membership. Does it go to the address on the logo above, and is it made out to Whaletown Community Club?

Membership Rules
Comment by Peter Henbury, WCC on 13th February 2010
I have checked the WCC constitution and it reads as follows:

"Regular membership shall be open to all residents of the Whaletown Postal Area, defined as the area from the east of Thunder Road, north to Bluejay Lake and Coulter Bay. Associate membership is open to any Cortes Island resident outside the Whaletown Postal Area."

It then goes on to say:

"All Regular members over the age of sixteen years shall have equal voting rights and all members shall have equal rights to all Club facilities, with due regard to reasonable care and proper usage."

As I read that, only Regular members over 16 have voting rights but All members (including both Regular and Associate members) have equal access to club facilities (e.g. the Gorge Hall).

Is membership and associated privileges only open to Whaletown residents or does it extend to all residents of Cortes?
