Friends of Cortes Island
Friends of Cortes Island Society is holding an Annual General Meeting and everybody is warmly invited.
Gorge Hall, Whaletown
1:00 – 4:00pm
This years AGM will be a fun and engaging business meeting and social event.
There will be reports from Marine Stewardship, The Youth Initiative, Parks, Sustainability Education and Watershed Sentinel, as well as all of the regular society business details including presentation of the Jo Ann Green Environmental Award and board elections.
We will also have special guests briefly share information about the OCP process, the work of the Climate Action Team and the Cortes Housing Initiative.
We have plenty to talk about and we request your ideas and thoughts to help shape FOCI’s direction in the coming year.
The term ‘resilience’ is appearing more frequently in discussions about environmental concerns, and it has a strong claim to actually being a more useful concept than that of sustainability.
We want to explore what local resilience means to us, as an Island community.
We invite you to do some pre-thinking about this hypothetical question that we will dive into further through a guided activity at the AGM.
"What would you need if the ferry didn’t run?”
We welcome everyone at the AGM. Current membership is required to vote at board elections. Membership renewals will take place at 1:00pm. New Members Welcome!

Will FOCI as the event host be facilitating any type of carpooling?
