I'm so pleased to finally have another whimsical landscape to add to the Cortes Island collection that currently includes Whaletown Whimsy, Squirrel Cove Whimsy and T'ai Li Whimsy. It's great fun to work through the process of translating the landscape into a whimsical aerial view. In this case, the Gorge Harbour folks saw the magic possibilities and I got right into it. I start with exploring every inch of the area on foot and by boat, taking photographs and doing sketches. And no, I don't work from aerial photos. There are usually too many obstructions, like trees, to even see the ground in an aerial photo. I use my imagination which fortunately includes the ability to see an object from any angle to matter what angle I am viewing it from. Hope you enjoy the latest whimsy. There are at least eight dogs, two dozen boats, three dolphins, lots of kids and all kinds of other surprises to discover.
