Another recent mask by Cortes Island carver, Jodi Forster. Carved in local broadleaf maple with horsehair, this is the second mask inspired by the Japanese Ronin, former samurai warriors who removed themselves from the servitude of their masters to become their own masters. The Ronin symbolize independence, creativity and resourcefulness. Jodi received an Award of Merit for this mask at the 2010 Campbell River Art Gallery Members Show.
