Meinsje Vlamming’s opening of her Solo show was Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Old SchoolHouse Art Gallery.

This was a very special Opening, Meinsje is actually taking a break from her art. Her show was a last-minute show when the Gallery had a cancellation. She graciously agreed to have this show and we were very fortunate for her decision.

This is the first time we have seen so many of her pieces, 17 all together, in a single exhibit. What a treat indeed!

Around 6:40, the audience had the chance to listen to Meinsje’s talk. She briefly explained the origins of her Art, her technique, the reason and meaning of her subjects, told us why she is at a crossroads, and gave us details on each one of the pieces in the exhibit.

It is impossible to describe her unique show. It is magical, with deep meaning, powerful, mysterious, there is deep sorrow and also hope and with an unquestionable very-high artistic quality.

Show continues Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 8 PM
and Sept 11 to 13 from 5 to 8 PM.
