Cortes Island Museum
July 17th, 2009
Cost; $105 GST included
Lunch is available for an additional $12
The southwest coast of Cortes Island is one of the most scenic spots on the mid-coast. It is also loaded with historic interest. We plan on visiting a First Nations pictograph and midden sites as well as to tell stories of the early explorers and pioneers.
Misty Isles Adventures provides all the equipment and training for this easy day trip. The protected deep bays and shallow waterways are a ideal place to try out kayaking for the first time or to learn new techniques.
The trip will depart the Mansons Landing at 10:30am and return there about 5pm. A shuttle service for the ferry can be provided if requested at time of registration. Guests are urged to park their vehicles in Heriot Bay on Quadra Is. and walk on to the Cortes ferry. This will reduce ferry traffic congestion and ensure that you will be able to get off Cortes on the last ferry of the day.
Alternatively, guests are encouraged to spend the night on Cortes Island, either at the Gorge Harbour Marina Lodge with it's excellent Floathouse Restaurant or in any of the lovely B&B's the island has to offer.
Bring along an extra set of clothes, binoculars, water bottle, sunscreen, watershoes or gumboots and a lunch. Misty Isles will provide a lunch for $12 if arranged for at the time of registration.
This trip is hosted by the Cortes Island Museum and because space is limited on the trip, pre-registration is essential, so be sure to reserve your place early by calling the museum at (250) 935-6340 or by email cimastwincomm.ca
