I heard a crash in the forest and turned towards the commotion to view a puff of dust and debris floating below the nest. I scrabbled through the tangle of salal and fallen trees to the site of the disaster. A side of the eagles nest had collapsed. All was silent until I heard a fierce squawk to my left nearby .Perhaps the raptor parents pushed it out of the nest. It was infested with lice and unfortunately didnt live to see the next day.
