Existing maps of creeks and tributaries on Cortes are full of errors and omissions.
We can improve this with a combination of hired expertise and volunteer fieldwork, in a way that will be accurate, and to a standard accepted by government ministries. Using modern GIS mapping systems and with the support of DFO, SEI, and local salmon streamkeepers, we can also include a lot of useful information about located attributes as we are mapping the water courses. The sequence of work will be watershed by watershed, starting with the main salmon creeks.
Currently we are looking for dedicated volunteers for mapping fieldwork. GPS training will be provided, but any experience is an asset! Please contact Derrick (lore_derektwincomm.ca).
