Just after sunset, we sit on a bench on the waterfront before a group of palms to listen and watch the Mexican Blackbird Jays settle for the night before it gets dark. There is a deafening cacophony of chirps and shrill whistles that even mimic cell phones and car alarms. They seem to nestle in the arm pits of the branches and when night finally comes, all is quiet.
