Over the holidays I have been literally building an office to serve you from, and just this week got all set up with a phone, fax and email specifically for the position. I will be dedicating 3 days per week to this roll and have a steep, yet exciting, learning curve ahead of me.
Strategic Planning at the SRD
As you well know, your historic local government (Comox-Strathcona Regional District) split into two new districts. The Comox Valley Regional District now serves the greater Comox Valley area, and the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) is our new local government body. Its new office in Campbell River is still largely empty as we are filling staff positions in this time of transition.
Although staff support is stretched thin right now, the up side is that we have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build an entirely new organization. Our most senior staff position, the Chief Administrative Officer, has just been filled by Brain Reardon and much of your Regional Board is also new. This fragile time is also filled with the real opportunity to set a new tone and strategic direction for our district. In the latter half of February we will be holding a strategic planning session at the District level and I want your input.
Please contact me. (See above for info.)
