The Land Conservancy of BC’s event, Special Places and You, at Manson’s Landing on Wednesday night, July 30th was as enjoyable as it was informative. The evening featured a presentation by former Lieutenant Governor Iona Campagnolo, TLC’s Honourary President, as well as a Power Point presentation by TLC Executive Director Bill Turner which focused on TLC properties both on Cortes Island and throughout BC. TLC is currently working to make Hanks Beach a public park.
The evening also featured a poetry reading by Ruth Ozeki who then related the message of the poem to the work which TLC is doing in preserving Special Places. Ann Mortifee, accompanied by virtuoso flautist Paul Horn, also performed and delighted the audience both with her musical numbers and with her personal testimonial of the value of TLC’s work in the land conservation movement.
