School District No. 72 (Campbell River) , Cortes Island, has need for a Casual Bus Driver.

Applications are invited for a Casual Bus Driver for Cortes Island to be employed on a “Call as Required” basis to relieve the regular bus driver who may be absent. The appointment would be effective September 2, 2008 or later depending on the recruitment process.

The successful applicant must possess a current valid BC Drivers' License, Class 2, with airbrake endorsement and have a minimum of two years recent experience in bus or commercial driving; have a clear understanding of bus driving functions, procedures and equipment; and, have graduated from Grade 12.

Duties will include provision of a safe environment for students; maintaining a satisfactory relationship with school administration, parents, staff and students; maintaining the bus in a safe condition; carrying out all aspects of bus driving work, cleaning and minor maintenance of busses.

The rate of pay for this position is $23.49 per hour, in accordance with the current Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 723. Please consult the School District's web site for additional details, application form, and instructions for applying.
