ARTIST INFORMATION

David Ellingsen is a Fine Art and Commercial photographer from the Pacific Northwest. With clients ranging from the New York Times to Paramount to Time mc, David is sought after for his serene, contemplative landscape images and his crisp, revealing portrait assignment work.

David was born in 1969 and raised on Cortes Island. A late bloomer with regards to photography, David picked up a camera at the age of 30 and hasn't put it down since. Upon completion of his education in 2001, David immediately launched his studio in Vancouver and quickly garnered an impressive client list.

David Ellingsen is now one of the area's most recognized photographers, with both his Fine Art and Commercial divisions, and is represented by Vancouver's premier artist agency, They Representation Inc.

For his B&W landscape photography David works with a medium format camera, his Hasselblad 500CM, or a Linhof 4x5 camera, shooting mainly at dawn and dusk and into the evening with long exposure times. The traditional B&W film stock is processed by hand and then scanned using lmacon technology for optimum image quality. Prints are produced in David's studio with archival pigment ink on cotton rag paper, treated with a UV protectant, and signed and matted in strict limited editions.
