Only certain tides in the summer allow Misty Isles to circumnavigate historic Maurelle Island.
Surge Narrow’s Beazley Pass and the Hole-in-the-Wall are famous for their tidal rapids but we will be able to work our way through them on Tuesday, July 31 at near slack water. Later in the afternoon, the incoming tide will thunder through at almost 10 knots! Eagles, seals and sea lions are often seen fishing in these fast waters. But it’s the region’s natural history that’s the draw for this tour and Mike Moore, our skipper, has a wealth of stories to share about the wildlife and tide anomalies found here.
Departs Whaletown at 10 a.m. and returns about 5 p.m. for ferry shuttles.
Bring your picnic lunch. Tea and coffee provided on board.
Price: $130, GST included.
