We all need one. Not everyone has one.
Let us introduce ourselves––the Cortes Community Housing Committee. Six of us have dedicated the past year to turning a dream into a reality. Under the umbrella of the Senior’s Society and in collaboration with Cortes Island Foundation and a few key financial donors and backers, we have purchased 51 acres of land in the core of Manson’s
Landing for community housing. The only way this land purchase could be accomplished was to keep it low key. And now we invite the whole Cortes Island community to join us in celebrating this
accomplishment. Saturday July 14 th , from 4 to 7 pm at Manson’s Hall. We’ll gather with music, refreshments, inspirational words, a tour of the property, and more. Unpack your summer best––or come in your garden clothes––everything welcome! Enjoy the music of Andy Vine with his band, and elegant finger food contributed by Island food producers and providers. Learn about the project though storyboards and presentations by Noba, and David Rousseau. Soak up the spirit-filled hilarity of John Preston, as MC of our gathering.
Take in the premiere showing of Bill Weaver's video about the project. Enter a grand raffle, find out about the Naming Contest for this newly-acquired land. Walk there with David Rousseau and Kristen Scholfield-Sweet––a chance to ask questions and to offer blessings for all that is yet to unfold.
The addition of your riches, in all forms, will turn land into home. Come share your support for this project in whatever form your heart and your pocket book feel to give. Whether $5 or $100,000, every gift counts, because we all understand that
“it takes a community to raise a village”.
Together we can fulfill the dream, and must, to ensure that Cortes remains accessible for people of all ages and economic levels. Please join us to celebrate all that has been done and to pledge support for all that is yet to be.
