On December 21st, 2017 Quadra RCMP were notified of a vehicle collision on Whaletown road on Cortes Island. The vehicle had flipped over after trying to avoid a deer on an icy part of the roadway. No one was hurt in this incident.

On December 23rd, 2017 Quadra RCMP conducted a traffic stop on an individual on Cortes Island. The individual displayed symptoms of impairment due to alcohol. It was determined that this individual had already received a 90 Day Immediate roadside prohibition (IRP) less than a month ago. The individual was transported to the Quadra RCMP detachment where breath samples were obtained that were almost 3 times the legal limit. The individual was released on documents to attend court.


Quadra Island

On December 14th, 2017 Quadra RCMP received a report of a vehicle that had left the road way and ended up in someones yard. The investigation determined that the driver was driving South on West road in thick fog and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of West road and Heriot Bay road. The vehicle struck the concrete barrier and went through a hedge before coming to a stop. The driver was issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision.

On December 14th, 2017 Quadra RCMP responded to a house fire in the Bold Point area of Quadra Island. All occupants managed to get out of the house safely. The fire was out of the fire protection area. Police stayed on scene to ensure that flames were not causing a threat to the neighbours which could trigger an evacuation.

On December 18th , 2017 Quadra RCMP received a report of a theft of tools from Heriot Bay road in Quathiaski Cove by the golf course. The complainant had set his tools down on the side of the road for a couple minutes and when he returned the tools and the tool box were gone. The tool box was orange and all the tools inside were brand new. If you have any information on this incident please call the Quadra RCMP or Crimestoppers.

On December 20th, 2017 RCMP responded to a motor vehicle accident on Heriot Bay road. A vehicle had left the roadway after hitting a patch of ice. The vehicle then struck a light pole and another vehicle parked at the BC Ambulance station. Then the light that was on top of the light pole came falling to earth and crashed through the windshield of yet another vehicle. Fortunately no one was hurt during the chain of events.

On December 21st, 2017 someone dropped off a nice leather case that they found on Sutil road on Quadra Island. The leather case contained ginger and a few other items. If you are missing this case please contact the Quadra RCMP.
