CORTES ISLAND

CORTES COMMUNITY WIFI SOCIETY

Assisted in part by a grant from the Community Access Program (CAP), administered by Islands Communities Network, and managed by the Cortes Community Wifi Society, these sites offer broadband public Internet access, and at least one easy-to-use public terminal, so residents and visitors can connect to the Internet, browse the World Wide Web, and check their Webmail.

The Cortes Community Wifi Society currently operates three sites in the Manson's Landing area; Cortes Island Natural Food Co-opSunset Restaurant, and Cortes Market. Another site is planned to open soon at Trude's Cafe, in Whaletown.

All sites feature a wireless hot spot so people with 802.11b/g (Wifi) enabled laptops or PDAs can access the broadband connection.

A donation (and suggestion) box at each site, provides an opportunity for you to help defray the costs of providing this valuable service. Your contribution helps to pay for broadband service provided by Twincomm Communications, or Xplornet.

Your suggestions are valuable too, and help us improve the service. Please tell us what you like (and what you don't), and suggest improvements or features you'd like to see offered in the future.
